It depends on the size of the model chosen. Our R&D tests have shown that a single compost bin can absorb an average of 40 kg of peelings and cardboard per year. This capacity varies according to the season:

☀️❄️ Summer and winter → their metabolism slows down, decomposition is more gradual

Not at all! Terracotta is a natural, robust material that is perfectly suited to composting:

🌱 A breathable material: ideal for both plants and worms, it allows good air circulation and contributes to healthy compost.

🌡️ Natural temperature regulation: terracotta maintains a stable temperature, protecting worms from heat and cold spikes by keeping them comfortably in the center of the composter.

📦 Careful packaging and delivery: our composters are heavy and fragile, but we have designed reinforced packaging that guarantees they will arrive at your home in perfect condition.

🇵🇹 Portuguese craftsmanship: our pottery partners apply a water-repellent coating that prolongs the beauty of the pieces and prevents the risk of cracking due to frost in winter.

❄️ A little winter tip: as with your plants, it is best to protect your composter with a winter cover, or bring it indoors if the temperature drops below 43°F/46°F. This protects both the terracotta and your worms!

👉 In summary: our terracotta composters are very sturdy and durable, as long as you take care of them during the winter.

We ship healthy worms directly from our worm farm 🐛. After a short adjustment period, they will settle comfortably into your composter and begin to reproduce.

👉 As long as you regularly feed them suitable waste (peelings + dry matter), your worms will naturally sustain themselves through their reproductive cycle. You may even have too many... to share with your loved ones!

⚠️ Of course, mistakes or prolonged absences can sometimes lead to the loss of the colony. In this case, don't worry: our team is here to advise you and you can easily restart your composter with a new bag of worms.
