To grow blond oak leaf lettuce: Make sure it doesn't run out of water. If it wilts as it grows, water it! Plant vertically, in part shade.
How to harvest? In 3 different ways:
- Wait until it has formed a fleshy heart and cut off at the base.
- Remove the largest leaves as you go.
- Cut every 5 weeks, leaving 4 cm of leaves at the base.
How do you cook it?
In a mixed salad, Périgourdine or Lyonnaise style! Serve with meat and vinaigrette.
And composting it is very simple: once harvested, you can compost the base and the roots - everything else can be eaten!
